There are two sets of rules: one for out of character (OOC) and one for in character (IC).

We also suggest looking here for chat terms people use.

• Spamming is not allowed within the chat room. If someone is caught spamming, there will be a warning and if done again, they will be kicked from the room.

• Flaming is also not permitted. If you have a problem with someone in said room, please either take it to IM or another form of communication. Flaming will result in a kick as a first offense and a ban the second time.

• Real life problems usually pop up somewhere along the lines of chat. If they do, we ask that you be understanding and not flame them and or criticize them. It is their wish whether to engage in discussing these problems to fellow chat members, since most of have known each other for a long time.

• Some people address each other by real life names. For example, people often address Ryvnn by her real name. Please do not use other people's real name unless they allow you to. If you do and they ask you to stop, please do so.

• Address who you are talking to. It lets people know who is talking to whom and it stops people from being confused.

• When linking in the chat room, consider what rating your material is. If it’s not safe to view in a public place, you must let people know. Some access Haven from their jobs, library or at school.

• DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS. You are not shouting at everyone in the chatroom. It’s also harder to read your text.

• If you are going to be on hiatus or cannot be online for a certain amount of time, please let a moderator know so we do not delete your character and account when we do clean ups.

• Godmoding of any kind is not permitted. This rule is so important that it has been highlighted, so please take note of this. By this we mean people that have ungodly powers and can kill people with one hit (also known as auto-hit kills). This would also constitute in a way that certain characters never receive damage. No one character is invincible.

• Because Haven is a community oriented role play, we ask that you please wait for the person you are engaged in RPing with to post. The general rule is to wait at least one to two minutes for a post. If you are typing a long post, you should inform them to give you a few minutes to prepare it. It should take you at maximum five minutes to make a post, unless you state that you will be right back or if you are dealing with real life issues.

• Since people RP in different styles, a character post limit has not been put up. We will leave that to the players discretion on how much to write. Do not go out of hand and type a novel for your post. This is role play, not typing up your memoirs.

• Spell things correctly. You are role playing and want other people to understand what you are saying. Chatspeak should not be used in role play.

• Do not use anime faces such as ^_^, >_>, <_< or smiley faces :P, :(, :o)~ while you are in character. That is allowed in the OOC room only and OOC posting.

• The most anyone can play in a room is one person, unless they are the game master of a role play and have non player characters (NPCs) in the RP for a certain time.

• If you play a character that has magic, there are limitations to those as well. We will leave you as the player to decide the effects of using the magic. For more information on magic, look at this thread here.

• If you are engaged in a RP that involves the use of sex and/or other questionable material, please keep it solely on IM or any other form of communication. There are people who are under the age of consent for their country or people who are offended by certain material. You should send us a log in brief on what happened so that we know was important to your character’s role play.
